Giovanna “Gina” is an expert in securities litigation and class action defense. She frequently represents and advises financial institutions as well as directors, officers, and
special committees members. Gina is lead trial and arbitration counsel in “bet-the-company” cases around the U.S. for those clients. She is the Co-Chair of the San
Francisco Litigation Practice Group, and serves on Seyfarth’s National Litigation Leadership and Trial Practice Teams.

Gina is a highly rated and recognized securities litigator. In 2021, she was selected as one of five of the New Generation of Leaders in Securities Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement at the 9th Annual Securities Litigation and Enforcement Institute. She frequently speaks and publishes on securities law matters, including for PLUS and The Practical Law Institute. In 2020, she co-authored the cover article for The Practical Law Journal on Settling Securities Class Actions, and also published an article on Defending Against Confidential Witness Allegations. Gina
is the Co-Chair of Seyfarth’s Global Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (“ESG”) Advisory Group, and is often quoted by the media on impact investing and regulatory disclosures, including in Corporate Compliance Insights Magazine.

Gina has extensive experience defending officers, directors, and special committee members against securities fraud and breach of fiduciary duty claims. She has broad class action experience involving shareholder, investor, consumer, and privacy claims. She also conducts internal investigations, responds to regulatory inquiries, and advises executives on implementing and reporting ESG goals and other metrics. Gina works with both public and private companies including private equity and venture backed portfolio companies.

Gina has significant first chair trial and arbitration experience. Clients seek out Gina to try high-stakes matters as lead trial counsel in venues throughout the country. Gina authors a chapter and speaks about trial techniques for the American Bar Association, Business Law Section annually.
