Sean O’Donnell

Sean O’Donnell is a Regional Underwriting Manager within the Financial Institutions Group for the Northeast Region at AIG. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing and training a team of underwriters focused on sustainably growing a book of business. He is involved in expanding new and existing relationships by promoting AIG’s expansive products within the Financial Institution space with a focus on Directors and Officers Liability, Professional Liability, Employment Practices Liability, and Fiduciary Liability. 

Before joining AIG in January 2022, he spent over eight years within the Financial Institutions Group at Harford. In 2016, he moved to Chicago as a Managing Director to start up a local Financial Institutions team overseeing the Midwest and West Coast territories. After a successful four years, he moved back to New York City to oversee the East Coast team and region. Sean started his insurance career in 2008 at AXIS Insurance with most of tenure residing with the Private Equity team. He has a strong understanding within the five core segments of Financial Institutions including; Asset Managers, Private Equity, Real Estate, Bank/Non-Bank Lenders, and Insurance Companies for domestic and multinational policy placements. 

Sean graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Magna Cum Laude and received his certificate in Fundamentals of Professional Liability from PLUS. He is also an active member in The Bridge Mentorship Program as he enjoys teaching and training the next generation of talented professionals. He has been engaged in many ERG’s over the years co-leading Professional Women’s Network and is a member of the AIG LGBTQ+ & Allies ERG. Sean is currently based in New York City.
