Exiting the COVID pandemic and with courts around the country at various stages of being back and fully functioning claims severity within the medical malpractice space quickly returned to, if not surpassing, the elevated levels seen pre-pandemic in 2017-19. 2022 saw some of the largest medical malpractice verdicts across the country and in unexpected venues – (i) $111M in Minnesota; (ii) $97M in Iowa; and (iii) $77M in rural Georgia, to name a few. In this session the panelists will look at trends, influences and tactics surrounding these nuclear verdicts.
